On Wednesday, Dec. 7, business clubs from FSU and Fitchburg State met to plan outreach for the Massachusetts Business Club Association.
At the second such on-campus MBCA conference of the semester, FSU’s Business Leadership and Marketing Clubs and Fitchburg’s Business Society approved the organization’s mission statement, which states that the MBCA “believes that the free exchange of knowledge and experiences among the business students of Massachusetts is the key to managing successful business clubs and gaining real-life experiences in business networking.
The association plans on reaching out to colleges over winter break and agreed that the focus should be on recruiting other state schools and, eventually, private universities.
Fitchburg State’s Business Society President Carrie Hill said of the goals, “The only thing I would add would be including something like ‘to try to work together to collaborate on events.’”
The next discussion was about creating an e-mail account for MBCA.
Business Leadership Club President and Marketing Club Vice President Michelle Lucas said that having an e-mail account is important, especially when trying to recruit other schools, because “we want the other schools to know that we are a legitimate association.”
Lucas added that MBCA is working on creating a letterhead template for sending information to prospective member institutions. General member Crystal Hederson will be creating a logo to represent not only the association, but the colors and shape of Massachusetts in order to embody the importance of the MBCA amongst business clubs in Massachusetts.
The MBCA is also considering creating a website and Fitchburg State’s Business Society Vice President Lindsay Mcaughlin will be creating a LinkedIn page.
Lucas said, “It’s a great idea in order to be accepted and known, especially when trying to get schools to join. We want them to have something to look at and be able to find out more about us.”
MBCA members also hope to start a bank account for the association to hold funds for events and fundraisers.
Members decided they will meet one Wednesday per month and the next conference will be in February 2012.
